Maya carefully stepped through the brown entrance into the dim light of the modern restaurant. What was it called again? Oh right. Les Yeux Bleu. It meant 'The Blue Eyes' in French. She navigated around some pillars covered in trickling sparkling water, and came to the reservation desk. There was a thick leather couch next to it, and she sat down lightly, placing a brown leather bag down on the floor next to her black boots. She tapped a finger on the windowsill behind her, and watched with a smile at the beautiful light of the city below her. She had found another superhuman-thing's number in a phone book, and she had called her and arranged a dinner here. She'd thought it would be a good way to get friends. The lady's name was Eliza. She seemed a few years older than her, but that had never stopped Maya. She fiddled with her hair as she checked her watch. 8:28. They had planned to meet here at 8:30. Maybe she's one of those precise people. she thought, stifling a yawn. That would be awesome.

Let's loose the jokes Eliza waited outside for a while. 2 minutes to be exact. When it came 8:30, the time 'Maya' told her to come. When it struck 8:30, she ran upstairs and into the dining. She used her power to move things with telekinesis to get herself a sparkling water from a tray that a waiter was holding. "Thanks," she said, still walking. She sat down and raised her hand and clicked her fingers. A waitress came over and she ordered a small pasta and green salad. She straitened her dress and looked up. "Maya, right?"

Maya almost jumped out of her skin as Eliza appeared with a glass of sparkling water in her hand. "Jesus - I mean, hi! Yeah! Maya. You're Eliza, right?" she said, nodding at the waitress and quickly ordering an antipasto bruschetta with a coke. She then leaned forward, tapping Eliza's glass with a light pink fingernail. "My family just moved here. Does everyone living on Greenhouse Street have a power?" she asked, a worried look clouding her face. "Because if they don't my parents will kill me. Literally. They hate me." she settled back in her chair, then took off her titanium ring. "This ring? Has a secret tracking device." she put it back on and took off a silver bracelet. "This bracelet? Has a listening device. Luckily I know programming and I shut the bracelet down. My ring is made of titanium, impossible to hack." she put the ring in the pocket of her casual dress. A waiter came around and gave her an iced cola. As she took a sip of it, she nodded at Eliza's dress. "Nice dress, by the way."183well, this is awkward.

Maya breathed a sigh of relief, and took the ring of her pocket. She rolled it around her hand, before throwing it out of the open window behind her. With all these powerful people, someone with something like super-sharp seeing would see it, pick it up, and sell it. "Mmm? Well, I'm a morpher... can morph into a big husky for land, a flying fish for water, a dove for flight, and a flying squirrel for treetops." Maya spoke as if she had said these words many times. "How come the waiters and things don't use their powers-" she was cut short as her antipasto and Eliza's salad hovered in front of them. There was a shimmer and the waiter turned visible, put the food in front of them, then turned back invisible and left them. She shook her head. "Never mind what I was saying." she said, smiling. can't be bothered music: dear future husband

Maya took a bite out of her antipasto and nodded. "Right. So roughly how many people are living in Greenhouse St?" she asked, sipping her cola and brushing a strand of loose hair out of her face.

Maya could tell Eliza was lying, but she decided not to press anymore. "What street do you live on?" she asked, pulling at a loose strand of hair.
