Today reminds me of my childhood.
I didn't like my childhood.
My mother came home drunk every day.
I don't know my father.
I ran away at thirteen.
I have become dark since. It's not my fault, really. My father might have been a great, caring man. (although i doubt that.) My mother used to be so awesome until she began to drink. It's not my fault I stay on Street 11 in Greenhouse Avenue. It's not my fault I stay alone in the abandoned farm. It's not my fault I'm who I am. The backdrop was grey, with a slight drizzle. I was inside the old barn, where I had wired up an amazing high-speed wifi router in the attic. I was sitting in the attic, the round slightly green window open wide and drizzled rain hung from the spiderwebs like little snowflakes. I yawned and opened my laptop, stretching and taking a french fry out of the packet to shove it into my mouth. I was wearing leather boots, a cotton tank top with a lacey thingy ma bob on top of it, then a leather jacket with lace leggings. It was then when I heard the creak of the rusty door being opened. I peeked down to see a figure, but I wasn't sure who she actually was. I climbed to my feet, whipped out my favourite pair of scissors and began to twirl them around my fingers as I descended down the moth-eaten, not-entirely-safe staircase. "Hey!" I yelled, stamping my foot down on the last step. "What are you doing here?" I asked after a while, when they hadn't replied.
Welcome to my life.

Let's loose the jokes Eliza knew everything. Or at least she liked to think that. "Those steps are dangerous," she said, using her fingers to push the step the lady was on on. It seemed like the step broke That was her power. "You should be more careful 'round here." Eliza's cold eyes looked like they were staring right through this child.

I laugh. "My life is dangerous." I said in a voice dripping with honey and danger. I rapped my fingers on the broken step, inspecting it. "Nice." I said, then kicked the rubble. It went flying across the barn and landed with a huge thud. Thunder boomed outside and it began to pour. I groaned inwardly. That meant that this thing next to her couldn't leave unless she wanted to get wet and muddy. I sent out a wave of small fear, feeling the familiar electrocutes spireling up her spine. I saw the familiar faint red glow reach the woman and wrap itself around her. No one else could see the glow ore feel the sparks. I smile coldly and cross my arms. "So who are you?"

Let's loose the jokes Eliza smiled and opened her hands as if she were about to hug this girl. Of course she wouldn't. "A person who lives in Greenhouse Street." she said smugly. "Your life is dangerous, I get that. But no need to ruin public property, even if no one comes here!" she gently moved the woman with her power and replaced the step.

I shrugged. "This is my barn. I don't need someone to tell me what to do." I say coldly, sending out a stronger sense of fear. Come on, come on, work! she thought, glaring back at the fixed step. "So you didn't answer my question, moron. Who are you?"

Let's loose the jokes Eliza crumbled to her knees. The terror was overwhelming. I can handle it! she told herself. "Terror is never gonna get you anywhere." she struggled.

"Oh yes?" I say, smiling and taking a step toward her. She put an ice cold finger under the girl's chin, and lifted it so she'd look her straight in the eye. "That's what you think." I whisper, then let go. "This is the only reason I'm not dead." I said, whipping around and smiling as my long leather jacket followed like a cape. "So. Who. Are. You." I say, letting out a smaller wave of fear. Wow. This is handy.

Let's loose the jokes During her younger years, Eliza learned to control her fears. she rose to her feet. "Everyone has their opinions. Obviously you were with normal people." Eliza walked out of the farm and brought the girl with her. "You stay here a lot. I get that. But would you ruin your home?" Elza still held the girl in the air as she looked at the ground. "If you had a home." she murmured to herself.

I laughed with malicious joy as I was taken off the ground. The air swept under my feet, and I enjoyed the feeling for a moment. "Sure. I'd ruin my home if I could. Oh wait - it already is." I say, shrugging and then wished there was something to sit down on. But at least being in the air made me taller than this girl. "Oh, and for your information, I do have a home." my time at my family home made my hearing and eyesight awesome. "So who are you? I've asked you a lot."

Let's loose the jokes Eliza kept Jade up. "Why ask me? All I can call you is you or girl." Eliza put Jade down, but kept her at a distance. Sadly, Eliza could still get her scent. "You smell... dusty, like the house next to mine. You live on Street11, don't you?"

I nodded. "Correct. And I'll give you my name first, then." I said, rolling my eyes and snorting. "I'm Jade. Jade West." I say briskly before walking quickly toward her again and tapping her shoulder. "And now you?"

Let's loose the jokes Eliza released Jade. "Eliza," she offered. "Just Eliza. Nothing else."

I shrug. "That's all I need, Eliza." I say, then look through black bangs at Eliza carefully. "What's your power?"

Let's loose the jokes Eliza laughed. "Jade, Jade, Jade... You have a lot to lear in this community." She lifted a flower with her left hand and a rock in her right. Both sung her power. They floated. "You can't change your reputation. I hope you know."

I blinked. I don't like proper grammar, plus I'm dyslexic. How the hell am I supposed to know what she meant? It was like one of those Ancient Greek riddle-things that she used to study at school. Before she was expelled, of course. "Eliza. I'm dyslexic. Can you repeat that in english?" I say, a little annoyed at my 'disability'. Oh god. Memories. People teasing.
